In 2025, Eastend was building toward the launch of Fund 1. Southstart, South Australia's tech and innovation conference, was an early signal of where the firm would focus, putting the partners in front of the national venture community and getting close to the local founder cohort that would shape our pipeline.

JD on the funding panel

JD joined the funding panel alongside Tractor Ventures and Cake, discussing alternative early-stage capital structures, the role of regional venture capital in Australia, and what founders raising outside the eastern seaboard actually need from their backers. The conversations from that panel turned into commitments to Fund 1 in the months that followed.

Co-hosted investor lunch

The week also included a co-hosted investor lunch, where Eastend brought sophisticated investors together with the founders building South Australia's most ambitious technology companies. Several of the relationships in the room that day are now active LPs, board partners or portfolio investors.
